Uncovering a Narrative

As the many layers of time are being peeled back through the preservation process - both inside and out - we are uncovering a past that was home to a varied suite of offerings - inspiring the next chapter, and a curated approach.

 an Eclectic Past

the Niceties

Originally built in 1911 for J. Netter as a Novelty store, the multiple level corner building also once connected to the iconic Adelaide Miller Anderson department store to its west, On upper two floors sat a hair salon space and the delicate reminders of a Tea Room – both as places to meet, rest and catch up on the latest gossip. As a sanctuary from the retail world, the past tenants remain in memory and in subtle ways throughout, a moment in time we needed to capture.

If only the walls could talk.

the Potential

Looking to curate a community of like-minded and complimentary tenants, the building has four floors in total that all span approximately 200-230sqm each. With detailed structural columns and original pressed metal ceilings revealed, years of alternating tenants are being stripped back, preparing for what (and whom) is to come.

Each floor is its own blank canvas,

and yet, the best is yet to come

 a Social Place

Community Spirit

Home to both a known Tea House and Hair Salon, the two entities were connected and integral to the social scene of the time, bringing people together through commerce.
